Keep your bones healthy all your life

Why it is important

to have healthy bones

The bones support us and they allow us to move. It protects the brain from injuries, along with the heart and other organs. In addition, bones store minerals such as calcium and phosphorus, which help us keep bones strong, and release them to others organs when needed for other uses. There are many things that we can do to maintain healthy and strong bones. Eating food rich in calcium and vitamin D, enough exercise, and having healthy habits helps keep our bones healthy.  If we don’t eat well and don’t do enough exercise, the bones can weaken and even break. When the bones are broken (which is known as a fracture) it can cause a lot of pain and occasionally surgery will be required to repair them. Also, they can cause other health problems for long periods of time. However, the good news is that it is never too late to take care of our bones.
