Anyone can be diagnosed with breast cancer even without having obvious risk factors. One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. There have been many who were shocked when test results revealed there was a lump in their breast. We do the best we can with the food we eat, our exercise routine and our environment. However, there are no guarantees that will equal a disease-free life and we would do well to remember that health is a journey, not a destination.
If we must face a breast cancer diagnosis, let us do so with a stronger mind and body to help us heal and recover with the optimum cellular strength that the right nutrition provides.
I am a strong believer in proper nourishment. It starts when we choose natural foods, activate our bodies, and positively feed our mind and spirit to the best of our ability. Wellness is an interior mirror looking from the outside in and reflecting from the inside out. Poor nutrition, stress, a sedentary lifestyle, and a toxic environment are a pretty good recipe for most types of cancers.
We need to ask ourselves some basic yet important questions. Are we choosing chemical-laden, artificial junk food? Do we neglect our basic need for the proper amount of water? Do we lack movement and become so rigid and tight that our bodies just don’t flow? Do we know the distribution of our weight, so we know just how much fat mass or muscle mass we carry? Do we give into excess sugar and alcohol because we buy into sweet and sexy marketing?
It is time for us to become aware and to question why it is that in our great nation, losing weight has become a 50-billion-dollar industry. Our future generations may find themselves eating from boxes and wrappers filled with processed and non-nutritious, difficult-to-pronounce mystery ingredients that may not even classify as food. I invite you to commit to a higher level of wellbeing and to switch to natural foods and properly nourish our physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual being. Strength, flexibility and endurance are a reflection of wellness. This wellness will lead to mental focus, clarity and longevity.

Ten Strategies and Ammunition for Successful Weight Loss
1. Commit
As if you were getting married to form a good relationship with food.
2. Forget
your total weight. Know your Fat Mass in pounds. Don’t weigh yourself daily.
3. Tweak
all your meals. That means, cut the portions of the foods you choose in half.
4. Whatever you do, don’t start a diet
It’s only a few days away from ending and making you feel like a failure. Know your calories intake and listen to your body. Eat when you are hungry and stop eating when you are satisfied.
5. Make a wish list
of all the foods you wish you were eating. Buy at least three every time you grocery shop. Allow yourself pleasures in moderation and let go of toxic behaviors with food.
6. Don’t buy anything
in large quantities. Even children should get used to smaller containers and bags.
7. Eat
several times throughout the day.
8. Read
labels and know what they mean.
9. Leave emotions out
Mindfully connect to your hunger and fullness cues.
10. Get
