Clinical trial volunteers are the human cornerstone of every scientific breakthrough

Without them, there would be no vaccines, no cutting-edge treatments, and no hope for millions of patients. This understanding inspired me to create the Clinical Trial Volunteer Care Program (CTVCP) and to publish the book “Volunteers in Clinical Studies: A Clear and Human Guide” as ethical and educational tools for those who choose to take this step.

As a pharmacist, educator, and volunteer myself, I’ve seen firsthand the fear, confusion, and emotional burden volunteers face. I’ve accompanied patients who were rejected due to clinical criteria—including my own mother—and witnessed the emotional toll it takes.

That’s why the CTVCP was born: to offer educational materials, ethical guidance, and emotional support to those brave enough to say yes to science.

The book reflects this mission. Written in a clear and compassionate tone, it includes interviews with physicians, psychologists, and real volunteer stories.

One of the key voices
is Dr. Francis Trevisi, a clinical psychologist, who highlights the psychological impact of rejection, isolation during studies, and the need for emotional care during clinical participation.

Both the book and the program were created with deep sensitivity and professional insight.

They’re designed not only for volunteers, but also for researchers, study coordinators, medical institutions, and families who wish to understand this world from a humane and ethical perspective.

Now more than ever—at a time when research focuses on environmental causes of autism, mold exposure, and metabolic issues in childhood—we need more volunteers, better informed and better protected. This project is a heartfelt call to elevate their role.
